Simple ole McDonalds back then was pretty good when compaired to today. I can remember at lunch a hamburger, french fries, and a coke for .47cents what a deal! If you ever get to Angel Fire New Mexico go to Zebidiah’s and try a green chili cheeseburger. Pretty darn good! Then again you ought to ask Ronnie Wilder or Mike London about Beverly’s on 29th and May where Mike waited on tables and Ronnie washed dishes in the back. That was before they went on to bigger and better things and worked at Glen,s Hickory Pit. Couldn’t beat their ribs.

How can we forget Spaghetti Red at Across the Street? That was the best! That place was always a fun time after games. And remember when the Pizza Hut on 59th St. first opened
up? It was the first pizza I’d ever tasted! Other good spots were El Charritos on South Walker and Oui Lyns (misspelled, I’m sure) on 44th & May, wasn’t it? I went to those
places with David Steven’s family for the first time. Some of you may remember I dated David during highschool.
Which also reminds me of seeing the first walk on the moon on July 20, 1969. David and I went over to his house and it was on TV. His brother Mark and I think Jerry and or Larry Waddle were there. What fun memories…
And what cool cars everyone had. Remember racing? I was with David the time he raced his ’56 Chevy with Randy Sander’s 55(?)Chevy on SW 89th street, which was in the country back then! Randy won because David’s transmission went out in 3rd gear.
Remember the Battle of the Bands out at the Fairgrounds? How fun was that? The band with
Grant kids, the Sound Pounders were really good. Steve Spears, Ronnie Jones, Delmer Pound,
and Lee Overstreet if I remember correctly. I think that may have started when I was in
Junior High and we actually went to parties in kid’s garages where bands played. Would I
have let my son do that when he was in junior high?…Heck No! But things were a little
    more innocent then, weren’t they?
Reminiscing about those times is fun, but on the other hand, sure makes me feel old!

I used to work at Marie’s Steakburger Hut in fact Marie was my aunt. She always said that she invented the Steakburger and that Del Rancho sole it from her. She did make the best Steakburgers!!!
